Blueness in the Eyes
Blueness in the Eyes is a collection of sixty-six poems celebrating love, memory, faith, family, and the enduring beauty of the human spirit.
Organized into four thematic cycles – Dreaming Birds, The Gaze of Rainbow Colors, The Whisper of a White Cloud, and The Touch of an Angel – the collection follows the poet’s emotional journey from the familiar landscapes of home to new experiences and deeper self-discovery. Expanding on the voices heard in her previous books, the poet now writes not only as a daughter, sister, and friend, but also as a wife, a mother, and a daughter-in-law.
Blending lyrical love poetry with reflective, patriotic, and spiritual themes, the poems speak to universal experiences of longing, belonging, loss, and hope. The poet converses with saints, family members, admired poets, the forgotten, and the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, creating a dialogue that transcends time and circumstance.
The poems – ranging from love lyrics and reflective meditations to patriotic and spiritual verse—include Sonata for an Only Son, Poppy in the Wheat Field, The Toll of a Sleepless Night, The Winged Steed, A Prayer to Saint Sava, The Touch of an Angel, and The Dawn That Never Came. Together, they weave a new tapestry from the romantic threads of times gone by.
Both intimate and uplifting, Blueness in the Eyes invites readers into a world where tenderness, resilience, and hope shine through every verse, offering a moving encounter with the deepest human emotions.
